How to build a super car
Discussion
...I thought it was a great programme
(mind you, I did wonder about the maintenance department...Ron was moaning that the replacement tiles were from a new batch & therefore different....I would have thought they might have kept some spares from the original install?
unless they keep dropping stuff on the floor and have used 'em all up)
A superb environment though. I must admit, I kept thinking about how different the TVR factory was!

Considering the attention to detail that had gone into facility I was also wondering why they did not order a generous number of spares to ensure an exact match if any were broken.
What a fantastic facility though and great that the cars are designed and build in England.
For anyone who missed it...... well worth a watch:

And the bit where the narrator said "A V8 is two four strokes bolted together" Jeez
I wondered whether he meant 4 cylinder. But, he did then immediately explain the 4 stroke cycle, so I decided on balance he meant to say it.
ing idea what he was talking about.
(In fairness the guy talking is a voice, the script writer and technical advisor are to blame)
And for all those times I fitted my pistons into the block, rather than the heads like Mclaren

Or tried to get my fuel mix to fast burn rather than explode.
Some 'proof listening' by someone with the tiniest bit of knowledge would have gone a long way here...

That said; enjoyed the program, and loved the attitude of the executive chairman.
Sound man gets a big

i just recon he made the best of a really bad car this season, look how much better he has been doing compared to button in a similar car and button is a great driver, even the commentators mentioned earlier in the season that when mclaren concentrate on a road car the f1 season is compramised

Eh? Jenson has (statistically) had the better season? (by some margin)Andy chimaera said:

I agree Andy everyone seems to forget about last season when button only beat Hamilton a handfull of times and some of those were only due to Lewis's retirements. Let's hope he can come back much stonger next season. Great programme though great to see a company still building a car from scratch in this country. I cant help but wonder who is buying all these cars in this climate ? a 2 year waiting list ? oh well it's good for them. What about the bit where he said the pistons are fitted in to the head?
Personally I always buy and extra pack of tiles/roll of wall paper whatever just in case. Odd how they can get hung up about the colour of the rollers on the castors and then overlooked a spare batch of tiles. Joking aside though. Hats off to RD and his team for creating manufacturing jobs in this country and for making a fantastic product. Credit where credit is due.

I can't believe I'm writing this but you're all missing the point about the tiles. If you've ever bought and laid tiles at home you'll have found that even in small batches the tiles can vary from box to box.
So I'm sure they did order spares, however the point about batches is that the tiles will have been laid in the batches as delivered. The number of tiles required will have no doubt used up all the tiles from a single batch, as a result it's likely that the spare tiles came from a seperate batch, hence the miss-matches.
I'm sure there was be variation across the floor when it was first laid but it's less noticable as you move from section to section rather than when you replace a single tile.
