OK, I know it is subjective but my wife and I need to ensure that the next running shoes we buy are the best ones for us, in terms of our running styles and injuries/weaknesses.

Anybody recommend somewhere in the Bournemouth/Poole or Southampton/Portsmouth areas that do a good job of proper gait analysis and footprint analysis?

TIA!!

Yep - I got my runners from there. Seemingly very knowledgeable and helpful- bar putting on a treadmill with a hangover.

That was the place I was thinking of. I stopped thinking about it quite quickly, before I was violently sick.

Never spent so long buying a pair of shoes! Full and proper service from these chaps.

Another good 'un is a place just outside the swan centre in Eastleigh (can't rememebr the name of it though). Me and the enemy went in there to get 2 pairs and the guy in there knew what we needed practically before we'd reached the counter! I told him I wanted running shoes and he said 'you'll need an in-step blah blah doobrey and this and that' (not actualy words...), all just from seeing me walk from the door to the counter. He didn't tell us to get the most expensive ones or even veer us away from the cheapest, but it all came in about 50% under what we were expecting to pay!

I got mine from Sweatshop - they have a branch on Soton - who did gait analsis on the treadmill.

If you do parkrun they are a sponsor and often give out vouchers - £5 off, 10% discount etc.

We git our last set of shoes there, and the guys does seem knowledgeable. However, due to the injury situation (slipped disc for my wife and new hip for me) getting the right shoes and maximum shock absorption is of paramount importance. I recognise that experience goes a long way, and the formal gait analysis on running machines might be hype and no better than the guy in Eastleigh does but we want to investigate a bit more this time.
