Russians and the Somali pirates
Discussion
Got sent this by a friend from Russia. Apparently they intercepted the "fishing boat" and found, as you'll see that it was loaded to the gunwhales with arms and explosives. So, using old seafaring laws, the handcuffed the pirates and left them on board, then blew up the boat. Right or wrong, I suspect that they'll leave Russian ships alone for a while!

However, one of the comments under the video says something about Americans moving the pirates off the vessel before it was blown up.
I think it was an extreme scare tactic.

Dead pirates don't tell others to leave the Russian ships alone.
I reckon the Russians tied them all up and told them they were going to die, then told the Americans what they had done so they'd get them and the pirates see what would have happened had the Americans not intervened.

This is nonsense. What 'old seafaring laws'? Even at the height of piracy during the 18th Century, pirates were captured and tried. The Russian ship was the Admiral Pantaleyev, who captured 29 pirates in April 2009. They didn't sink their boat with them aboard, but put them ashore to be dealt with. Some of the pirates were from Iran and Pakistan.http://www.marinebuzz.com/2009/05/03/somali-piracy...
