They aren't type approved for UK or EU road use; I very much doubt they have an airbag or ABS and God knows what would happen in a crash test.

It may be possible to register one as a personal import on a "Q" plate or even as a quadricycle a la G Wiz.

But again why would you want to? If abject misery in a small package is desired then buy a Smart Car.

Tata have tested one to at MIRA. It had been altered to meet European test standards, but the structure itself is sound:

You miss the point entirely. New cars sold over here have to be fitted with those items if toted by a volume manufacturer. I'm not their side but the laws have changed.

Actually an airbag isn't mandatory for European type-approval provided you can meet the head-impact criteria requirement. An airbag IS required for US type-approval since there is an unbelted head-on crash test which is impossible to pass without an airbag.

ABS is a requirement and, from November 2011, ESP.

It was created for Indians to step-up from a moped to a 'car' - there is no place in the UK for this car we're far too sophisticated and cultured (well, most are!) here to want this car. Hell if you had a Korean car you could look down on Nano drivers, is this the image (tempted to write imagine there haha) you want??
