I love my 450SE but I'm not able to use it as much as I would like to. I keep toying with the idea of selling it but then go for a drive and come back promising not to.
I've had her ten years, she's spot on but beginning to show her age. I can't afford to start refurbing her and as I'm living in a rented place part of the conditions is not to strip cars down / restore them in the garage.
I'm torn between keeping it but realise it could be years before I can afford to do the work on it that it deserves or do I sell it to someone that can enjoy the car as much as I've done but give her the ongoing TLC she needs? If you love someone set them free kind of thing.
I feel guilty at not using her as she is a very good original 450. She's never broken down and left me stranded and the only time she wouldn't start was because I hadn't reconnected a wire properly after some tinkering at home. The chassis is very sound though the outriggers are probably due to be replaced and she would need new carpets to give her a revamp. Everything else is doable on a personal basis.
Help me with my decision boys.....it's driving me mad!!

If theres one saying that does my head in its that one..So many women have used that one to break up with me..Or its "I love you but cant live with you"..f
k off then!!..I think it only really applies to animals that you have found injured and then you nurse them back to health..Like a songbird with a broken wing..We spend most of our life searching for the things we love and want to cherrish and then get rid just to mope about and feel sorry for ourselves!!..When i get rid of my 280 i shall be buying a V8 wedge instead and shall keep it until i die and then it will be my tomb..I got no dependants..My second cousins dont even bother thanking me when i send them money for birthdays and christmas so f
k em..Ill be buried in it..Hope this helps..

I appreciate that you have issues with not being able to use your garage to work on the car but one of the reasons i am determined to do as much work as possible on my 450 is because i cannot afford to pay someone else to do stuff every time something crops up. Take the wheel refurb i recently undertook. I had no idea what was involved so did some homework then got stuck in. I was quoted around £450-600 to have them done proffessionally. I reckon i spent no more than £80 doing them myself and £20 of that i didn't really need to spend.
Having something but not needing it is far better than needing something and not having it. If your life at the moment dictates that you dont use the car much remember it can only go up in value, particularly being a 450. If it's sound and useable just keep on top of it rather than refurbing. You will find it much harder (and possibly more expensive) when the time is right to find another 450 in good nick.
I spent more than i should have (or could afford) really when i bought my 450 but hey, you only live once and i'm not bothered about big flat screen tv's or the latest iphone etc and i dont get out much 'cos of the kids.
My wedge is my one and only indulgence.
From experience (i had a 400 5yrs ago) don't sell.
