Hi
So just about to buy an M5. Seems the done thing is to invest in the BMW warrantee. But what excess?
£113/m for 0 excess
£100/m for £100 excess
£82/m for £250 excess

So if I claim more than once every 8 months it's better to go with £113/m. But more than that probably better to go with the £82/m. Is this a realistic possibility? Or have I been scared too much by reading the horror stories?

Car comes with 57k miles, but I shouldn't be putting too many on. Maybe 6-8k per year.

Can anyone with a similar mileage car let me know what to expect?

I would go for the £0 excess as at service time you might have to make 2 or more claims for 2 or more seperate repairs. £100 a pop soon adds up. And only buy the monthly package.

You're in the same position as I was with my M3. I went for the £113 p/m warranty at 58k miles. Its better to go monthly because once you go over 60k miles the price almost doubles. Plus when you go monthly BMW tend not to bother increasing the monthly premium even after the 1st year if the car has gone over 60k miles.

So if there are two claims at the same time I'd need to pay excess for both?
Ouch...

I'd need to double check but I believe you do. Each claim is seperate.

So thinking £113 is the way forward then!

I've heard of people paying as little as 77 quid for a BMW warranty. Is there different prices if you've bought AUC or private/Indy cars?

Depends on the car and whether the warranty on the car has been continuous or whether it has lapsed, if it has lapsed then the premium is higher for the first year.

Take out the Emergency Service and take a £250 excess and you can get the warranty on a E60/1 M5 down to £73p/m.

One of the [many] good things going for the B5 IMHO!

Mine is £80/ month, £0 excess, no emergency cover.
I would have shelled out £500 in the past 6 months, [getting on for half the cost of each issue,] had I run with a £250 excess; so, so far, so good for me.
