Does anyone know if having a Sky HD box unplugged for any length of time causes it to wipe the hard drive?

I recently moved house (and country) and the box was disconnected and unplugged for about 6 weeks, and now when I connect it up, (albeit without being connected to either phoneline or dish) it doesnt seem to want to do anything, just says searching for listings, or box is intialising.

All I want to do for the time being (until I get a new dish installed) is watch the stuff I recorded previously. Anyone any ideas on how I might be able to fix it?

Thanks

I'm sure the recordings stay there until you delete them so I think it's more like a fault with the hard drive

Oddly the box will not function without a dish attached.

It relies on the satellite for things like the time and date, transport streams and so on

It is built to skys spec and therefore cannot be compared to freesat freeview stuff

Thanks - so unless I have got a dish attached, there is no chance of watching the recorded stuff on the drive? Does it need an actual signal, or is it the actual physical connection of the F plugs that triggers something?

Nope you need the dish and it needs to be tuned in
