Basically I bought a car a few weeks back which had 8 months independent warranty remaining (APA warranty), I have the warranty book, etc. APA are saying that they must be informed of a transfer within 7 days of the purchase date otherwise the warranty is void.

Unfortunately I was not aware of this, also it took the vendor a couple of weeks to send me the warranty details. Where would I stand with this? Can the vendor reclaim money back from the company? If I were to request a new warranty with the same company then should it be cheaper given the fact that 8 months warranty has already been payed for?

Any help greatly appreciated!

I imagine your only chance is convincing the warranty company that as you didn't receive the documentation until ~2 weeks after that there was no way you could've known about the 7 day clause until after it had already elapsed. You might get some goodwill out of them if you push it.

I've read the T&C's and it actually says "you must apply to APA to transfer the agreement prior to sale of the vehicle"

I've never had warranty before but I wonder how many people actually realise this when buying and selling cars with warranty. I've also had a look at the exclusions list (which is ridiculously long!) and warranties in general don't seem worth it tbh

So the seller never had a warranty to sell you.

I'd be livid.
