Problem with my new E60 M5
Discussion
After resetting the mileage counter on the 2nd refuel - I've just managed 240 miles on a tank.
Any ideas on the cause of this "fault"?
Seriously bloody impressed! After everything I'd read on here I was expecting 150 max given that I've been easing into the car for a week now and have started testing out the 6k-8k rev range increasingly frequently
Only odd thing so far is the fact that it seems to want to keep pulling away from a stop in 2nd when in D mode. What's all that about? Can't be good on the clutch surely. Also a bit of driveline shunt but I guess that's par for the course.

I think it has five settings for D mode gear-changes? In the DCT M3, one pip starts in 2nd, from 2 pips on it starts in first. Is it the same with the M5/M6?240 Miles, how late did you leave it before filling up?
For me the "low fuel" warning comes on at about 150 miles, but it looks like I've still got 1/4 of a tank left. I've not managed over 200 miles from a tank yet before I've bottled it and filled up.
Is there any type of "last chance" warning I should be waiting for before I jump?

Hehe, I managed to get 300miles out of 3/4 tank while in Europe with 70mph on the cruise control. It was so boring I vowed never to repeat the experiment. Averaging 19.2mpg with normal motorway driving between Blackheath and Portsmouth and some London driving.Any ideas on the cause of this "fault"?

I also managed to use 67 litres of Aral's fines 102 octane fuel while getting lost 6 times around the one-way-toll-road between Nurburg and Adenau. That equates to 5mpg...
Yeah its really simple. set up the car exactly how you want it, inc all comfort, gearbox and climate settings, press the M button on the side of the seat so it lights up red. Then press the button marked 1. That's thememory and your key set. You can do 2 and 3 but there's no real need. With your wifes key do the same once she has set her requirements. 2 keys, his and hers.

Never knew that! Everyday a schoolday. If you have comfort access, does the key need to be in the binnacle?Gassing Station | M Power | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
