Clatter at 3000rpm
Discussion
Collected my 500 today and had a great drive accross country.
One issue -(not bad really) under acceleration - there is a clatter - about 3000rpm - only under load - not gentle acceleration - any ideas, thoughts were baffles in the cat - lifters? Running very well - covered 280 miles and no loss of power etc.

It could be just pinking as a result of not being full of Shell’s finest V Power. They are supposed to run on 98 Octane according to the handbook.
I don’t know why but some do it more than others, I’m lucky and mine runs OK on premium, but is noticeably better on the higher octane stuff.
Back off a bit till you empty the tank and it should be OK.

If it is pinking then it will occur worst at high load (full throttle) and low revs. I don't know how senstive the Griff is to 95 fuel but it certainly isn't ideal. If ignition timing has been adjusted to reduce pinking (not sure if you can on the Griff...someone else confirm?) then it will need to be re-tuned once you have put a tank or two of the good stuff through it to get the best out of the engine.
