Skyactiv - why didn't anyone think of this before?
Discussion
This has probably been discussed already, but I have just looked into this on Mazda's website in a bit more detail.
They seem to be taking on board the comments of petrolheads and focusing on improving current engines (rather than downsizing) to meet regulations, doing away with expensive and complicated systems for recirculation and making their cars lighter. Other than perhaps BMW, this is a welcome change from the multi-turbo'd, DPF'd or tiny engined soloutions from other marques.
Autocar also seem to like the diesel engine: http://www.autocar.co.uk/CarReviews/FirstDrives/Ma...
Worth a bit of praise IMO...
