Lock him up or give him a job?

While the bleeding heart hand-wringing brigade come out with their faux-fury at the letter, actually when you read it, it's quite enlightening on two fronts:
1. These scrotes are laughing at the system.
2. Best crime prevention advice these people would have ever received had the letter been passed on (once you decipher his poor handwriting and awful spelling, he is only 16, bless him).
Therefore should the thief be locked up (instead of some "intensive supervision order", whatever that means, or given a job as crime prevention officer?
(Saying that, the latter, given the nature of our bloated, politically correct, twisted state bureaucracy, would be a sentence far worse than the former)

Some of the best internet security people were once hackers. So I see your point about giving burglers jobs after all they have beaten security systems or in this case taken advantage of a lack of security.
I dont know the area I understand its in Leeds but if its full of these scrotes looking for stuff to steal you don't leave your windows open at night certainly not downstairs windows unless your sat in the dark with a baseball bat waiting.

There is no deep meaning here - he knows he can be an a
about what he's done and he does not in any way have to justify why or apologise. He has no respect for the system, within whatever peer group he's in they probably laugh at the weakness in British justice and that's really it.
Utterly contemptible individual but what does he care? Not like he really has to is it?

We have no justice system, well not one that works anyway. Anyone writing a letter like that (admire his honesty) clearly has no moral thoughts about any of the crimes he commits. Its a sad part of our lives that really no one in the mainstream parties, gives a fu=k about punishment anymore, or protecting the rights of the weak and vulnerable.
Our streets are full of disaffected youths who care about little else, other than themselves. Poor parenting and a hands off approach to the merest thought of actually punishing someone. Our country has been turned into an effective no go land for punishment, time and time again we see ineffective sentances given out by Judges that actually don't live in the real world.
It really is about time that we got seriously tough on people who commit crime, the ones who keep re offending it should be 3 strikes and your locked up forever. I dont care how much it costs, I dont care if the hand wringing liberals bleat on about unfairness, because I fear that this will just get worse and worse. If I had enough money and was a bit younger I would leave this country. It saddens me to see the decline in moral standards over the last 30 years.

Dear burglar,
To be honest I'm not sorry you are in prison, basically it was your fault anyway. I'm going to run you through the dumb mistakes you made. Firstly you didn't wear gloves which most burglars use so your finger prints were everywhere. Secondly you came to a high risk area, which is stupid because that means it is also a high awareness area and you were spotted and ID'd running away by several people in the area. Finally you're so thick you failed to sell the goods you stole quickly enough, so when the police came knocking you still had the gear on you, what an idiot. I don't feel sorry for you and I'm not going to show any sympathy for your current plight. I will give you a tip though, don't bend down in the showers!
Yours sincerely,
The victim

Whilst somewhat amusing, sadly, this letter would just get laughed at, especially as these scrotes aren't actually in prison - the burglars in this country mostly cannot be bothered to take the precautions cited as the police don't bother dusting for prints much, if they do get caught it's a few days in a warm police station/courthouse instead of at home watching daytime TV waiting for night to fall in order to go out burgling again. PS Am halfway thru latest edition of PC David Copperfield's book so am doubly cynical about the dire state of our useless but expensive criminal justice system, if that were possible.
That's right, because all a crime prevention officer needs to know is 'don't leave yer winder open or someone'll like, climb thru it, like, an nick stuff.' Fantastic idea. He has such a deep knowledge of the subject there's no doubt he can offer some in-depth advice that is unavailable elsewhere. (And we'll overlook the fact he got caught, innit?)
From an old thread, but worth a repost I feel.

Since it’s so cold I thought I’d share a heart-warming tale.
A chap I used to know owned a florist shop. I’ve never known anyone look less like the stereotypical florist. He was a big hairy type and belonged to a well-known biker MC. He lived with a nurse from the local hospital.
The building was one of those old wooden affairs that every railway station used to have as a coal merchants office. The place was tiny, but being sandwiched between the station and the hospital it took a fortune.
He suffered a series of burglaries that took little but smashed up the place a lot. The building couldn’t be well secured because it backed onto disused railway land. Someone was getting in via a rear window. There were bars on the window, but the wood of the building was beginning to rot and they pulled out.
One night his girlfriend was on duty in the A&E department of the hospital when someone hopped in with half his foot missing. He was unwilling to say what he had been doing when it happened.
It seems that he might have stood on something similar to a cartridge trap The florist found a terrible mess under the window and the bars were partly ripped off again.
Somehow the burglars name and address from the hospital records found its way to the local MC. Several Angels popped around to take him some flowers. They explained how he should rest his leg by not going anywhere he shouldn’t; places like florists, Police stations or Court’s. They hoped it wouldn’t be necessary for his leg to be amputated any higher. Being generous types they offered him a family discount on wreathes if he was really careless with his health.
