Hi all, I'm not to clued up on towing stuff, does an A-Frame let you tow without having to steer the car being towed?

Or is there anything I could use that lifts the front end up so the front car does all the turning?

Thanks

You need either an A frame or a dolly.

Cue massive PH debate about the legality of each method, depending on if they are braked or not!

I'd opt for a trailer, if you have a twin axle one even as a newbie to towing it will be relatively easy as long as you factor the extra weight and size into your driving.

Is there a limit to how much you can tow with an A-Frame?

750 kg any more than that its classed as a trailer, none of the options are legal

IIRC things like Elises and earlier smart cars are around the 700kg mark.

Trailer it.

By far the safest method IMO.

How far are you transporting it and what is it?

Around 70 miles per car, and it depends which car I get at auction.

Thanks

Looking at your previous thread it looks like this will be a regular thing and will involve salvagable cars. In that case definately a trailer or even something like a single car transporter on a transit chassis.

I wouldn't trust a dolly or A frame to pull a car which has been written off. It may not be legal anyway as it will not be road legal.
