...to say the least.

I very rarely listen to the Today Programme and I am reminded why again with this. Just shows himself to be a belligerent twunt who won't listen to anything that's said and continually, rudely, interrupts the interviewee. This is a terrible interview!

I sometimes listen to it if I'm out in the car. He reminds me of an old boss I had, the only way to get him to agree to something was to make him think he came up with a great idea. Otherwise he'd just read out the key points of what someone had prep'd for him over and over again until everyone said that was correct

You might have a chip on your shoulder if a.) you'd grown up in Splot and b.) found your way onto the BBC.

Yes, you're right.

Been a while since I saw the place. Had my first Chinese meal there, IIRC a mate's 7th birthday.

If I had been interviewing Politicians for as long as he has, I would have great difficulty in not starting every interview, with any and all of them, by swearing very loudly at them for at least the first minute. He must have heard every lie, avoidance and John Prescott like jiberish from every party there is. How he can not try and tear them apart with his bare hands is beyond me. Politicians of all parties should have a health warning stamped on their foreheads. How do know when a politician is lying? Their mouths are open.

I hate the way, on BBC Breakfast News for example, that politicians are given an easy ride and are allowed to make blatantly false claims without being challenged by the intellectual lightweights of Sian Lloyd and that Bill chap.

At least Humphrys will pick a politician up when they make a clearly false statement and will questions claims they make.

He is paid to be impartial by the BBC. NOT to push his own agenda.

Don't remember the complaints when he was giving labour ministers a hard time.

BBC Breakfast News
Don't, just DON'T!

I fking hate, loathe and despise that programme with a passion.

It's a 'magazine' with almost no news content whatsoever, and what news they do have is so biased as to be blatantly obvious and shocking to even a deaf dumb and blind person, with no limbs, just a torso, wrapped up, and on a ventilator, in a dark room, comatose, and with no bloody telly either.

Or even the most vehement BBC bias denier. Mention Breakfast to them, and they always 'cave', "OK, I'll give you that!" they say.

Even good old, dear old Bill, bless him! Will be up against the wall come the day.

It was a brilliant interview. Shapps fked up in grand style, and Humphries simply would not let him off the hook.

I want the interviewee to be interrupted, especially when it's a minister or shadow cabinet member, otherwise they'll just vomit out the party line.

Contrast with the way Mark Serwotka was allowed to dodge yesterday.

Quite.

It's so obvious it makes the Today programme quite hard to listen to.

I think every interviewer should give every interviewee st... put them under pressure.

We forget that these people are there to represent us and should be held accountable.

Union leaders aren't nationally elected officials so should get less of a grilling. Less grilling as you go down the food chain!

Putting Mark's politics to one side for a second I understand from someone who uesd to work closely with him that he's actually quite a nice chap in the 'Real World'.

You will note my opinion is very impartial I hate ALL of them. My post was a lighthearted view of what I believe should be across the board treatment of the lot of them. I think he's beasted most of the creepy sods across the political divide over the years.

He is morally questionable being one of the biggest 'socialists' around or purveying the cause. But not for himself, he believes he is above the whole socialist life.

After hearing him speak, privately, he doesn't represent his unions but himself.
