How many times have you done a spot of work on your car only to end up finding or creating another problem?
I hate kerbed alloys and always believe that such wheels are the preserve of bad drivers. Of course this is an unfair generalization, as I don't live in the city or have to park on the street.
Anyway when I came to clean my 3 month old car this week I was horrified to find evidence of two very slight scuff marks on one of the rear rims. As I am the only person to have ever driven the car, it had to be my fault. I was gutted and decided on a plan to swap this wheel with the spare (also alloy). As soon as I whipped the scuffed wheel off, I noticed that there was a bloody great nail in the tyre. The car is equipped with tyre pressure sensors, but they were reading normal (I must admit I don't know how they work!).
So I cleaned the "old" wheel up and popped it in the spare wheel well, but am now faced with a trip to the tyre shop for repair/replacement of an almost new tyre (only 1700 miles old). I guess I should be thankful that my vanity has unexpectedly unearthed this potential problem before I set out on a round England trip next week.
What problems have you lot unearthed or created whilst tinkering?
