Top Gear Live 2011 at Excel London
Chaps I was up at last nights Topgear Live at London Excel and thought I’d share with you, some of my thoughts for anyone thinking of going this weekend. I have been going for the past five years and can say it’s normally a big static car display with one live action arena. This year it seems they have listened to the fans and massively reduced the static car display to one hall and built a replica of the Topgear Test Track indoors, which was designed by Lotus Motorsport. The show is hosted by Tiff Needell, the indoor track plays host to races, rallies and special appearances from Top Gear favourites The Stig, Sabine Schmitz and Derek Bell. In my opinion was the high light of the show as you can get close up and personal with Group B rally cars, such as the Audi Quattro and RS200 as they hurled around setting lap times. Another nice touch this year was sons of F1, which included Nickolas Hamilton & Alex Brundell going wheel to wheel racing in Rotax karts.
The Top Gear Live show was the usual, cars doing hand brake turns, fireworks massive explosions. It had an Olympic twist this year, such as Moped Chariot Racing, Car Curling & Splat The Rat. All very funny and amusing. Of course, there will be the chance to see some seriously cool cars in the Top Gear Live Exhibition – and in action, including the new McLaren MP4-12C, Lamborghini Aventador, Ferrari 599 GTO, McLaren F1 and Aston Martin V12 Vantage.

My personal take is the show is a lot better than previous years, if you at a loose end this weekend, definitely worth the trip up.
