Caterham Christmas Drift Ho Ho Hoon

Join us at Silverstone on the 10th December for mince pies and drifting (better than drift pies and mincing)

It’s Christmas time and there’s no need to be afraid, at Christmas time we get in Caterhams and we hoon about. And in this world of plenty why don’t you join us at Silverstone on Saturday 10th December for a festive drift day?

OK, let’s not try too hard with the tenuous links, but we will have mince pies, and when wearing red Riggers does look a little bit like Santa.

So what’s it all about then? Well, you’ll get drift tuition in a high performance Caterham 7 along with full tuition from Caterham’s expert team of instructors as you learn to master the art of driving a car sideways.

An orientation and demonstration drive from the instructors will help to familiarise you with the cars and you will be taught to steer the car using just the throttle.

It’s not easy to do, in fact you may find that spinning is the order of the day, but by the end of the day we promise you’ll have it mastered. The instructors will teach you both in groups and individually and we guarantee that you will have drifted a car before the day is out!

When your confidence has grown we will change to a more challenging track layout designed to allow you longer drifts. Ultimately there will be four courses with the last giving you the opportunity to show off your new drifting abilities at a higher speed and through multiple corners. Our team will judge the three best drifters of the day and award prizes to the best.

Spaces on the day are charged at £235, which includes a full day of tuition in addition to food and refreshments.

Space is limited to 24 guests, so if you want to book see here.

You can read more info by clicking this link.

We look forward to seeing you there

If it's like the Pistonheads Westfield drifting experience, then quite a bit.

That was an excellent day out, and now I've seen this me and my other half are quite excited to do it again....only thing is the non-Pistonheads drift event the day after is £25 a head cheaper???

[Edit]Ahhhh... the cheaper one is at Brands Hatch, quite a bit further away for us...

Ooh. Interesting point, pricing suggested by Caterham so I can't answer that....

I can on Monday though.

Excellent days, I've done two with Caterham before. Plenty of track time, and the time out of the cars is useful to digest the advice given and see how others get on. Nice bit of competition and pressure at the end too. smile

Right this is booked, hope it doesn't rain! Also booked the Friday night at the Silverstone Travelodge for only £25.90, should make the 8:30am start a bit more palatable.

I absolutely adored doing the PH Autoglym Caterham Challenge last year (based on the Caterham Slalom events, rather than the drift ones). It was an obscene amount of fun. The team that run it are superb and will get you hanging the back-end out in no time. I highly recommend this one, folks.

What happens on these days if it rains?

Im mean the drifting will be a given I suppose, but the fun may be significantly reduced.

There were heavy showers on the Westfield day I did, we got wet (obviously) but the driving was even more fun if anything as it was easier to slide smoothly. Bring waterproof trousers if you have them as well as a jacket :-)

If it's like the PH Caterham drift day I did then... wait for it... 12 minutes!!!!

Things might have changed though, I think a few people moaned that they hadn't been driving for very long!

On our day there were 4 cars, the group was split into 2 with 2 cars running at the same time - to be fair the cars were always working but there was just too many people. I felt that I'd sat around a whole day (freezing) and only been behind the wheel for 12 minutes - I'd rather they'd just given me a time and let me have my 12 minutes all in one go. Anyway, whichever way you cut it it's a lot of money for a small amount of driving.

I must confess I didn't have the drifting mastered by the end of the day (which was why I started to count how long I'd been behind the wheel - after which I felt a bit better) although, I had been able to drift a bit (the middle session was best for me) but one of the guys had it absolutely nailed by the end of the day.

It was nice to meet some of the PH crowd and to see some great talent on display - Sam is excellent! The team were all lovely but unless the format has changed (and I'd be genuinely interested if it has chaps) I wouldn't do it again. Track day every time for the wedge!

For those that have booked - I hope you have a wonderful day and that I'm wrong about the timing. I'd be keen to get your feedback either way!

Mmmmmm... if that's the case then I'm keen to hear it's changed too, now I've booked 2 places for me and my OH!

On the Westfield day I'd estimate about 45 minutes of seat time spread over several sessions, and everyone could drift and donut to a decent degree by the end of the day. In fact a common comment on here after the event was that the seat time was good.

Can anyone official reassure us? smile
