We are looking at replacing one of our old Nissan forklifts with a new spangly electric one.

Have had our existing supplier in, offering a Doosan equilavent, and Toyota in.

Anyone had experience (relatively recently) with either? It will be a 1.6 (ish) tonne couter-balance, three wheel version.

we,ve got 2 toyota electric trucks at work and they're very good.

ours are going up and down ramps all day and the sas stability system is great, plus the seat is very comfey and its a pleasure to drive.

We have a Jungheinrich 1.8 tonne 3 wheeler at work which is nice to use, being front wheel drive helps.

We also have a Still 1.6 3 wheeler which horrible in comparison. The wheel that does the steering is also the drive wheel thus wears the tyre out real quick.

how many hours will it go on one charge?

our forklift is getting tired. It's LPG, 50hp 2.5t lift. They don't do semi-industrials with LGP any more so will have to be diesel. That suits me just fine, but the management wants LPG in the building.

Where I used to work we had a Linde. Was good, even had a VW diesel lump under the bonnet!

I used be a Toyota fork lift mobile service engineer. Go for it, they're literally unbreakable.

I used to be a Mitsubishi mobile service engineer, and before that, Still. Its been 4 years since I left the game, but I'd personally steer clear of the Jap stuff and choose Still. Having said that I must have stumbled across virtually every manufacturer apart from Toyota in my time, so I'm not qualified to say! Mitsi, in my opinion, were cheap and overpriced. And, in the hands of hardcore, 24hr users didn't last long at all.

Just replaced our Stihl R50 (brilliant truck) with a new Doosan. Much improved battery life, better at going up slopes and along roads (ours is road registered). It does have some annoying safety features such as auto braking when you let off the accelerator. Our dealer gave us a cracking trade in against our old truck, and threw in a few goodies as well, one being a ride along forklift for my boss's little one biggrin

We've got a fleet of Toyotos at work, and apart from being reliable they are the worst trucks I've had the mispleasure of driving in the last 25 years. mine's an electric 1.8.You can't see the tips of the forks from your normal seated position, steering's noisy, worklights are pathetically dim, seats too low,no back support from the seat, pedals are offset too far, battery moves around, rear wiper is useless and pointless, steering column doesn't adjust enough, brakes are crap, had to have the roof modified so we could see the forks at full reach, controls are twitchy and theres a small delay between controls and it actually doing what you require.Apart from that they are ok!Its basically a 1970's truck with modern electronics and they are ste! Hopefully they'll be going next year!

Personally our firm would never buy Toyota truck again. We require trucks to run 14 hours a day non stop 365 days of the year. The Toyota trucks were just not up to the job.Constant breakdowns and failing parts.WE opted for Linde trucks in the end.And have had no problems with them.

In a past life I used to buy diesel forklifts to work 24 hrs a day in a foundry, loading furnaces, raking off dross and transferring the finished product.Over the years we probably tried every make of truck going but in the end the Linde trucks were the best for the job by a long way(ease of operation, durability etc)
