Six years ago I was diagnosed with cancer. All better now but it means that I am unable to have children. My marriage broke up as a result.
We move on with our lives, and it's all amicable, however today my ex oh tells me that the new oh is pregnant.
While I'm happy for them and he would make an excellent father, does anyone have a plaster?

He may make, as you say, an excellent father but he made an absolutely crappy husband if he loved the prospect of kids more than he loved the actual you, at the most vulnerable time of your life
And if that is the mindset he passes onto his kids, he's going to make crappy dad as well.
Well rid.
Tony.

I'm in the same situation as you,but switched..sort of.The wife and I had only been married for a year and had thought about kids when I became very ill.
After I was operated upon I was a little 'unsettled' for a while and we split up.She had decided she didn't want kids, but now with her new fella has decided it
may not be such a bad idea after all.We talk often and I wish her luck but I sometimes dwell on what might have been..*shrugs shoulders*
Can you try IVF or is that out? Failing that as RAH says - adopt?

Thanks all. I feel better today.
It was always going to be difficult, but at least it's over with.
Crawling into a pit and dying isn't an option, however Veuve Clicquot (I couldn't find any Krug in Dorking) and KFC most definately are...

The other shoe drops.
Nooo! I really like Dorking.
It has an eclectic mix of independent shops, and therefore people. The quintessential English market town.
Much of Surrey is featureless / unfriendly / completely up itself, however Dorking is the kind of place where members of the public chase armed robbers.
Dorking always cheers me up - not least because the Stage 2 exhaust on the Elise makes a lovely roar through its narrow streets.
Today I also executed the perfect burble on the overrun.

I used to enjoy visiting Austec when they were based there... 1st gear in the old Chimaera, lifting off for popping and crackling.
