All,

It is my birthday tomorrow and I have no idea what to have.

I tend to do all of the cooking (when I am at home) and don't fancy spending the entire night in front of the hob as there is red wine and single malt muchness to be had.

I am a carnivore and have no fear with food however SHMBO will find a bone in an omlette...

What would you recommend that doesn't require too much effort but can produce quite a hearty meal;

1) I am a big steak fan and so med rare fillet is an option but one I regularly take....
2) Oven cooked southern fried chicken but would ask for a recipie
3) B*gger it all and get a finest meal or a takeaway?
4) Other suggestions welcome

Cheers!
Mark

Buy a take away and spend the rest of the time baking yourself a sponge birthday cake and then making your other half decorate it for you before you blow out the candles and consume at least half of the cake.

The Waitrose version of 'KFC' isn't bad - it just needs a bit more celery salt and some chilli added imho - easily done.

A pack of that, a big tub of coleslaw and a bottle of champagne. Job jobbed.

i was going to suggest some slow cooked recipes which would take most of the day to cook but minimal prep. and observation. then i thought fk it, ring the finest cury house in your area and order a £50-60 worth.

remind them it's your birthday, and pester them for lamb handi
