Hi there, I've found a beautiful 56 plate A6 2.0 TDi Avant S-Line at a decent price... 67,000 miles, full Audi main dealer service history, MOT'd a month back (no advisories), all the toys and so on. I wish I could go for a bigger engine as it's certainly a little sluggish but I desperately need the mega fuel economy... I'll be getting it chipped as soon as I get it so no worries there.

Thing is, I've not owned an Audi since my old 80! I'm wondering whether anyone out there has any experience of this exact model, any tips or advice they can give me, anything particular to watch out for?

Also, the car's history shows it being serviced at 66k by Audi main dealer but makes no mention of cambelt being done. I was under the impression from owning a Passat Sport with the same engine that 60k was the recommended mileage for that big job?

Cheers!

Poor handling, ridiculous torque steer, didn't like the driving position, engine didn't feel up to the job of hauling that car around, autobox didn't suit the engine, electric handbrake was annoying and got depressed after 40 miles.

Interior was well screwed together.

Would much rather have the facelift 520d, hell I'd have the pre-facelift 520d.

Place this in the Audi VW section for more feedback.

I had an SE on an 58 plate and it was a slug, benign, dull and the only good bit was the MMI interface.

It had a new engine at 21k, they didn't tell me what failed and it was under warranty. I had spotted the tell tale mayo in the oil filler. Engine drank lots (and I mean lots) of oil and also let us down with an alternator failure 2 years ago in Italy.

Due to all Audi dealers in Italy being on holiday in August, we had to get the car mended by the local highwayman (over 600 Euro's) and then Audi UK only re-imbursed the 'Authorised UK Dealer' rate for the fix.

Will never own any VAG product from new again.

I can highly recommend a 520dSE Touring! 22k and its ace and a flying machine by comparison, has a brilliant 8 speed auto and enough toys as standard.

I tried to talk a mate out of buying an A6 and he's now experiencing some 'little niggles'.

Oh, it was also crap in the snow too.
