Indicator modification ??

I keep leaving my indicators on after turing corners such as coming off a roundabout or a slip road.I have removed the black plastic cover but still can't see the internal repeater lights very well in the daytime and hearing them is impossible.Does anyone know of a mod either audable or visual that will help.

I know you can buy beepers for motorcycles, although that might be too loud. You should also have a warning light in between the speedo and tacho which is more in your line of sight that the one behind the black plastic. Is that working, or not?

No mine hasn't got the one between the tacho and speedo I will have to have a look at some of the later models at the next meeting and mod mine to suit.

Instaed of putting one in the dash it would be easyier to put on in the steering console on the top, were you can see it and you have the wires right near.

Buy a little 12v buzzer from Maplin and wire it in parallel with the indicator dash lights (I suppose you'd need 2 buzzers, one for L, one for R, actually). It'll drive you crazy.
You might want to check with someone who's fiddled with the dash electrics that this won't cause any problems, given that you'll be changing the resistance of the path to earth though. I don't want to be responsible for your dash board looking like a Christams tree!

Thr pre cat's don't have the light between the main clocks. I'd agree with the idea of placing something on the steering column - the vauxhall strouds, if I remember, have quite a lot of room inside for additional wiring.

Yes it does work on sharp corners. I only have a problem with it when I only turn the steering wheel slightly as in coming off roundabouts and slip roads where I am not turning enough to engage the self release mechanism.

I know exaxtly what you mean but have you thought about just remembering to flick them off with your finger when you bring the wheel back? Doh

Joking aside, it is an issue that can be a little dangerous as it invites people to pull out of junctions infront of you as you are still indicating but just swiping the lever as you come back sorts it everytime. It becomes second nature very quickly.

Getting lights and buzzers is a bit like buying a calculator to add 2+2.

The human race has gone into space and to the deepest depths of the ocean. We should be able to flick a lever once in a while.

Some people flick their lever more than others.As I get older the need to flick my lever is still there but some times I forget.

It's also worth pointing out that it is a traffic offence not to cancel an indication!
