Removing Citroen gear change cables - help please

Finally going at the clutch on my Dispatch van but...
How do you get the cable ends off the rods at the gear box end?
It's like a little ball joint that appears fixed to the end of the cable, but how do you pop it off the ball?
I can't see any clips is it just a case of brute force and it will pop off? Don't want to brake it as they are expensive new.

Yes they just pop off however old hardend plastic and all that !! grit your teath and hope for the best ....How do you get the cable ends off the rods at the gear box end?
