Doesn't seem to be being discussed yet, so I will post up this, link to the update Toyota emailed me this morning.

http://www.toyota.co.uk/cgi-bin/toyota/bv/frame_st...

The Toyota FT86 will be called the GT86, will have 200hp, and weigh 1180kg confirmed at last, no more speculations....except on the price

Some pictures and videos on the gallery page

I still love it smile

GT 86 instead of FT-86 ? The fans won't be happy, they made websites and everything hehe . I still prefer the Subaru version, those Lexus style rear lights kill this one for me.

Scion FRS looks better than either.
Most of the scion range are lookers to be honest, especially the original boxy Xc I think it was called. As for the GT86, well, it is the next one along from the FT... So sort of makes sense.

200bhp, and the 1100kilogrannies are very good figures for a little bruiser.

So should be E30 M3/rwd Cosworth/200SX S14 performance plus a bit extra - more than enough to have fun with if it isn't over-tyred - should be great

Really liking this. About time Toyota made a sports car again. What's the price likely to be, 25-30k?

I like it except for the fugly fat ass and the awful "Wolfrace" alloys.

Hope it goes better than it looks, feel underwhelmed, something just doesn't sit right. Hopefully Subaru can get it right.

I hate the rear lights so I've done a quick photoshop to "correct" them. Just some red vinyl will see the back end looking miles better. I'm really not sure why they decided to go for the "welcome to 2001" chrome chav style rear lights.

To the chap saying the Scion looks better - true, but remember the FR-S posted recently was still a concept car, the real one will be a derivative of the GT86 (probably just some new bumpers at most).

According to the Autoexpress article Toyota are saying nearer to 30k than previously suggested 25k unfortunately...presumably the Exchange rate has something to do with that

Autocar reckon it's 28k, which suddenly puts it off my shopping list. Anyone have idea how big it is inside? MX-5s and S2000s don't like lanky people.

It's not under-wheeled; everything else is over-wheeled.

Even though I won't be able to afford one of these for ten years or more, the fact that a manufacturer has build from scratch a mass market sports car platform is exciting news.

Agreed. The fact that no one will buy it because of 'the interior plastics' or some st is depressing.

Probably the first new Toyota since they killed the Supra that anyone would actually want. Majorly looking forward to it. I'm definitely signing up for a test drive, despite the fact I won't be able to afford one for a long time hehe
