... and the clutch operation for that matter. Does anyone know a way of doing this before the body shell goes back on? It would be easier to sort issues out, especially around the chassis mounted T piece, before moving to the next stage.

Also, decided to replace the brake master cylinder by looking up on Ebay the one fitted to the Saab 9000. Sure enough new ones are still available but for a whopping £150+, you can however pick a new one up from American sellers for around £30 plus £30 postage. It may take a while to get here and there may be customs duty and it may be slightly riskier by it's worth a punt.

The new one I'd bought originally had the ports in the right place, and the bore (22mm) was right but two of the outlet ports are oversized and would require an adapter, so I've given up on the idea.....

Thanks to Norman and Greymrj et al for the useful information.

I didn't have any trouble getting a new m/c from my local motor factors a couple of years ago, they just matched the bore size/stroke and the port position/threads against the standard Fords. I don't remember which one it matched but it was quite common - maybe an Escort? If I remember correctly, the bore is actually 22.2mm.

I don't remember how much it cost but I don't remember being particularly surprised, and I think it was around the £50 mark.

I think the V8S unit is fiesta Mk3 (I certainly hope so, that's what I bought and would be fitting today if it wasn't absolutely baltic in my garage).

The earlier S models had a Saab unit with a remote reservoir (which is what mine has at the moment). That's the one you can't get any more, hence me upgrading to the later unit! Once I have passed the "preliminary procrastination" stage.

yes it is from a fiesta but you must get the one with the correct bore, i.e. 22.2mm which was the one fitted to the XR2i and diesel fiestas and the vans. If you see the detail Norm put together HERE it is the "option 3"

thanks for the reference Mark, but I knew that - I've been carrying those part numbers about on my phone to make sure I got the right bits! I was only saying that I didn't think the later models (including Peter's V8S) had the Saab units that the OP was showing.

I've just removed my Saab unit today, am about to re-drill the bulkhead to fit the new one, but the holes are so close (and the existing holes are too big) so the centre of the new holes is right on the edge of the old ones. I think I'm going to have to file them out to ovals and fit big washers.
