Hi All -

have a home network which is running reasonably well principally used to video & films- just want to know if there is a bit of kit that allows you to stream music files off a media server?

I currently only access them of the TV, which sounds rubbish and necessitates firing up the bluray player (as this allows network access)

just really want a box that can be controlled by a remote with graphical interface to access my itunes library off the network -

apologies if this all seems staggeringly obvious - but i can't seem to find an our of the box solution

confused

any pointers most welcome

An AppleTV, using an iPhone/iPad/iPod as the remote.

I'm not a Sonos expert, but if that will use an iTunes library, that'd do too.

Do you need it to have integrated amp/speakers?

Sonos would suit the bill. It will scan all shared folders on the network and enable you to stream audio .. use an iPod/iPad/iPhone as the controller and have access to internet radio as well as spotify/napster etc.

Apple TV will only really provide the connection to iTunes (Sonos will just look at the shared folders) and give you access to playing the audio from it. Sonos provides much more and can be bought and set up on a room by room basis, either as a single integrated unit (Play 3 & Play 5) or using separate speakers (Sonos connect amp) or using separate speakers and an existing amp (Sonos connect).
