Waterproof point and shoot

Hello all

I'm after a point and shoot that can take a bit of abuse while out and about. Any advice, budget is around £100-200 mark. Looked at the sony tx10 but the demo model was broken, the salesman didn't see the irony and it was a little over my budget.

might help you, they do have that sony you are on about. They quite like it, but as for taking some knocks, it doesn't look too hot does it?

For me the panasonic is a good bet. Im sure you can get that one, or a slightly less spec'd model for £200. My mates got an orange one, had it a while, and its seen all sorts. We've had it in the pool, and he's had it attached to his arm while in the cornwall surf, so its been bashed into rocks, covered in sand etc etc... still works perfectly.

Having bought (and sold) four of them in the past 12 months, I can say that the Lumix is the only one which can be persuaded to produce reasonable results. Didn't try the Pentax, however.

Have you looked at the Canon Powershot D10? Don't know why they didn't include it in that review. In reviews elsewhere on the net it usually comes out best for image quality and it's the only one that looks and feels genuinely rugged. And it's £213.

I have the Canon D10 - trully an excellent piece of kit. I have snorkelled with it, regularly comes out on the boat when we go racing and it has been in -27C when we were off-piste skiing... For a point and shoot image quality is great and it really is sturdy. Call me biased, but I would not put a Panny and a Canon on the same page.

Another vote for the Canon D10. Bought one earlier this year as I wanted a rugged point and shoot for when I didnt want to walk about with the slr.
Worked really well. Waterproof to 10m.


Only downside compared to others is a 3x zoom
