Well I just have to post a big thank you as we have just got back from Oulton Park where we had the best track day of the year with Opentrack Track days,

The day was wet to start and just as the track started to dry out it rained again at lunch time so I took advantage of the FREE professional instruction who got me past my fears of spinning out at Driuds and made me much faster around the whole circuit.

Again thanks you Opentrack Track days for a great day & I'm looking forward to Brands Hatch on December 9th

I agree, we also had a great day at Oulton Park yesterday. As the track dried out, it just got better and better.

Some nice footage there. OP can be hard on the nerves when it's mildly moist. Especially this time of the year under the trees between Knickerbrook and Lodge. Didn't look like you had any dramas at all and the car was very sure footed. What is the spec? smile(I don't know much about TTs)

I was there on Friday with some CSLs. I agree it was the best run day of the year with Dave at Opentrack in charge. Free coffee, tea, garages, photos, fruit, biscuits, hot chocolate. It was just lucky I got out on track there at all smile

Perf Vauxhauls were there, also a few mk1 and mk 3 MX5, and then a load of M3 CSLs.

I love Oulton Park, I might even say it's the best track in the UK, I did have a little spin at Druids in the morning and came out of the corner backwards......Doh!

The car was built by Motor Guru in Ipswich (yes that's me) and here's some of it's spec:

Hand built fully forged engine
Head reworked & 3 angle valve seats
Balanced and lightened crank
Fidanza alloy flywheel with 5 puck clutch
3" down pipe & decat
2.5" cat back Scorpion exhaust
BC Racing suspension, corner weighted and running race settings on dampers & preload
Fully polly bushed
Adjustable rear tie rod arms
Forge FMIC
Forge cold side DV kit
Forge TIP
Forge DV valve
In house modified K04 turbo running 2 Bar boost
Yokohama AD08 tyres on Wolfrace Track ready pro lite wheels

Plus loads of other bits, bobs and mods all made in house

I agree Dave at Opentrack knows how to treat his customers with all the FREE stuff and Free instruction to boot!
Which CSL were you in? not the one with the orange wheels was it? because I came past that one a few times in the TT.

But it's not a race it's just about enjoying our fast cars in a safer environment ;-)

Think I might take dave up on his offer for next year:
5 for £555 or 9 for £899
http://www.opentrack.co.uk/page34.htm

Ive been pleased with his days, great bunch of lads, plus free tuition is always good first thing.

Guru I was in the garage next to you at Snett in October with the 3 CSL's - mine white.

No, silver grey with taped out plates and Volks rims. Had a great day once I lost my huge fear of the ice rink also known as Driuds smile

What is the TT running bhp, and what times did you manage?

Hi Shim,

Yes Druids was a little slippery in the morning so much so that we came out of the corner backwards early in the morning.. Doh!
I took advantage of the FREE tuition and that really sorted me out.

The TT is running 300Bhp at the wheels and best time (after looking back at all the vid's) was 2.11.37 I'm quite pleased with that :-)

Are you coming to Brands on the 9th as Opentrack still has a few spaces?

I do love the sound that the CSL's make it's just awesome to stand on pit wall and listen to them come past

Only 9 days left until the next one.....yay!

Tad faster than a Renault Clio 197 at 2:11.82 (source Autocar) so not too bad wink

Declaring lap times from Track Days invalidates the insurance and is a great way of getting yourself banned from future events (heard this warning several times at Track Day briefings) whistle

I came past a TT with an orange engine bat a couple of times in the blue focus rs, but like you say its not about racing is it ;-)

Dave is officially my favourite uk trackday organiser! I can't believe his days aren't more busy - but its quite nice that they aren't too....

Teffers is the favourite euro organiser for obvious reasons
