which 'trick' mountain bike wheels inc carbon

Hi all , got a project underway and looking for ideas on what wheels to get , looking at all types , all advise welcome

Snowflake laced wheels look "trick", but are rather structurally unsound.


Trispokes have a "trick" appearance, but are rather heavy.


Or there is the daddy of trick wheels the Tioga disk drive. But be warned, if you have a Diskdrive you must also have Kooka cranks, Pauls derailleur, ringle H2O bottle cage, Fat Chance frame etc...

New trek Y33 carbon frame project. Used purely for local posing and cruising , so its a completly blank canvas.

In which case I would go for some titanium ti-dye spokes laced in a snowflake pattern....probably the blingiest wheels you could make.

Something like a Spin tri-spoke or Spinergys.
Both are rubbish, but look "different" and near enough the right age. Something new would look wrong IMO.

i would definitely go with the crank brothers wheels if you want a combination of posing and functional. they come in a good array of anodised colours and look sufficiently 'trick'.

aside from that, i would go for some hope pro ii hubs (in a colour of your choice) on white crest rims with black spokes and anodised nipples to match your hubs... nice and light, nice and strong and not stupid money.
