Will there be a Merc CL diesel?

I have considered a Merc CL each time I have changed cars for about 10 years now

On reflection, if there had been a CL320CDI, I reckon I would have had one by now....

I can understand why Merc hasn't, but I am expecting it will at the next launch

Well BMW have the 635d, and Merc already have the diesel S-class.

I'd be surprised if they didn't bite the bullet at some point - but have they anything powerful enough at the moment like BMW's 3.0 twin turbo?

I dare say that the sporty image of the CL wouldn't suit the current lazy diesel engine.

yes, it needs something like the BM 3 litre as it appears in the 535d or 740d

or maybe the 4.2 TDI from the Audi A8

Isn't the E-Class (and probably the S-Class) available with a 4 litre diesel V8?

E350 and S350 V6 CDi models with 265bhp.
