W124 - where to find paint code

As title says - where would I find the paint code on a W124 estate? I've no owner's manual to refer to.

It is one of the numbers on the little metal plate attached to the front bumper bar/cross member, behind the radiator grille. Three digits. If you state the year and describe the colour (eg, 1990, pale blue metallic), I'll probably be able to tell you.

Cheers for that. I saw the plate you refer to but I don't know what the nos refer to. I assume some of them refer to options?

Anyway the car is a 1995 200TE in bright red. Not Almandine red though.

582 imperial red.

By 1995 it would be an E200, right? If it is a late-registered 200TE, then it might be 568 signal red but that colour ceased production in 1993.

That's brilliant. I'll look at the plate the next time I see the car in daylight, i.e. Saturday, and hopefully I'll see the no. 582 there somewhere.
