Tuningkit.de (diesel tuning) anyone used them?

Hi guys,
Been looking for a chepaish way to extract a bit more power form my Mk4 Golf pd150 runaround. Don't really want to go paying 300 quid for a remap though.

I'm a bit skeptical though! Can anyone vouch for them as being genuine? And is it really as simple as plug and play with something like this?

I've heard of these guys! Have you used them? More importantly, do these tuning boxes actually work? I'm not exepcting results as good as a custom remap though!

Tune that bad boy and watch reliability go out the window . Soon you would wished that you payed for a proper map and that you shouldn't tuned it in the first place

We had one on our A4 1.9 TDi, compared to the remapped cars we had: it smoked way too much even for a tuned diesel and eventually caused some engine management problems. Another friend of mine had one on his A6 2.0 TDi and I don't know the full details exactly but all I know is that it needed a replacement engine not long after.

Agreed. That engine is already pretty close to the edge in terms of long term reliability and I wouldn't want to be putting yet more strain on what is likely to be a slightly leggy car knocking on the door of 10 years old with all the transmission and ancillary wear and tear that entails.

I looked at this when looking for some more out of my car (E60 525d). Almost every non-biased view i read complained about smoke. Lots of smoke and not a lot more power or confidence that they'd done the right thing.

In the end i paid up and had it mapped by e-maps. No smoke, noticeable increases, genuine confidence.

A friend of mine ran a Tunit box on his Rover 75 diesel and it certainly went better afterwards. Don't remember it smoking too much either.

May warrant further investigation, though the prices do not appear far off a proper remap...

don't these boxes just increase the fuelling (pressure or amount of fuel injected)...hence the smoke? and that can't be good for the engine long term!

not used the company the OP queried, but I have used Racechip.de which seems to sell similar products at similar prices. The tuning boxes have always worked well and I have found them worth the money.

i went with tdi-tuning.co.uk in the end. Rang up and spoke to a guy there who seemed to know what he was on about. I'll fit it and see what it's like, and if it smokes or isn't any good i'll send it back! Comes with a 14 day money back guarantee.

Please update this and let me know how you get on. I've got a van I'm interested in tuning/mapping, and this seems to be far less intrusive than a remap.

ive got a dtuk.co.uk box on my bmw 520D msport and love it.had no troubles at all with it. And my partners brother has got one on his astra van and clocked well over 80k with it on and no issues with it.

Yes I am familiar with the DTUK system, they're DTE Chip tuning Re-branded for the UK market. However, I was looking at the other option by RaceChips, 179Euros for their kit with several maps, TUV approved etc wondered if anyone had used them before?
