Landrover series one with no pedals?

This is on a friends farm photograghed at the weekend what puzzles me is it appears you drive it with no pedals, so wondered if its on hand controls, were they an option for early landrovers not somthing I have come across before? sorry didnt get a pic of the interior.

Dont forget that on series 1's the pedals are mounted through the floor and not from the bulkhead. its possible that it was converted to hand controls only but I would have thought it unlikely, maybe they have been removed for repair.
