Heel and Toe

Just acquired my first TVR, a 1999 450, and I am in love - the noise, the performance, easy to drive, great looks, loved by everyone. One small question - I cannot heel and toe on downchanges as I used to do, and wonder whether others can, if so how, and whether the pedals can be adjusted to make it possible.

PS Fabsil works great on the hood, £12.99 for 2.5 litres from Milletts, easy to apply, no streaks or patches and water beads up after one coat.

I can heel-and-toe my '97 450 easily enough. Ball of the foot on the brake, roll sideways onto the throttle - I use the side of my foot rather than the heel, but it works well enough.

OH Brake pedal is fully adjustable, undo locking nuts adjust pedal up or down and relock in position.

Ah yes, pedals adjust very easily. Moved the brake pedal down a few turns, and its much easier. I also use the side of my foot rolled across onto the gas to blip it. The brake pedal also has an offset shaft so by turning 180 degress it moves a bit closer to the throttle which seems to suit my smallish feet better.

Try some adjustable leven pedals, you can move them pretty much where ever you want. Give them a call.

I don't have too much trouble heel-and-toeing mine. The main hindrance is that I use the brake so rarely (and so lightly when I do) that it becomes a little difficult to reach because of the length of the brake pedal travel.

Under moderate braking it's not a problem at all.

You can offset the entire pedal by doing it up at a 45 degree angle. Makes it a bit easier.
