Hi Folks

Just got a new D90 and wondered if the electrics are CAN BUS or not? Was thinking of taking the (very simple) tow bar electrics off my 1998 Freelander but a friend said it might cause probs with the electrics as all modern cars have ECUs controlling them. I was hoping that because the Defender is quite basic I might have got away with simply joining the towing electrics to the existing lighting circuit. Can anybody shed any light on the matter please?

Regards, Flash

Buy the landrover tow kit from Dixon Bate which is a pre-made loom and just plugs into a pre existing multi plug under the back end of your truck.

Thanks for the link. I spoke to Dixon Bate this morning and, despite what it says on their website, they don't do electrics anymore. He gave me the number for Brit Part? but they are not answering. I'll give Egdons a try.

Cheers

Just to update the whole thing. Got a towbar loom from Egdons. It really was quite simple - disconnect battery, remove panel in wheel arch, shove connector blocks together, replace panel, connect battery, drive. No problems, all lights work, very simple.
