I thought I would say hello. My 350 Wedge arrives tomorrow. I am more than a little excited.

The original plan was to buy a Wedge as a donor car for a Sammio (http://www.sammio-spyder.com/sammioG46.html) G46 body to sit on. This one looks quite tidy so I am now wondering about running it 'as is' for a while.
If I was to use it as a donor the bodywork and most stuff other than the chassis and drive train would be unused. Is there a market for body shells? I guess the trim etc can be sold more easily but I have no idea if people will buy a complete shell or how much it would be worth.
Any advice welcome.

Hi and welcome..personally i would just keep the TVR as is..Non-biased of course..
..Once you have driven it i think you might be persueded, Plus the reaction from the general public and other road users is amazing!!..I like the look of the kit you have in mind but will it fit on a TVR chassis?.."The Sammio G-46 is a body shell and internal frame package that replaces the existing outer body skin of your Scimitar SE5".(Please note SE5 model only and not SE6)..I found this on a sammio site!..Not sure about the body shell being a big seller but the interior a definite..Hope you make the right desicion..I think it would of been cheaper to buy a SE5 and a donor engine..Good luck..ziga

I have had a chat with Gary (Sammio builder) and he is keen to make a TVR based version of the G46. It will have a slightly shortened back end, losing the length between the door shut and the wheel arch.
As I said, I might well keep the TVR. I guess these sell better in spring / summer so I might even make enough on the sale to buy a less good version (possibly a 2.8) and use the extra to pay for the Sammio work.
If anyone on here is 'desperate' for bits then let me know as that might affect my decisison.

Welcome. While spares are always welcomed by wedge enthusiasts ,it realy would be a shame to break another car. Im sure one day we will look back in horror to the days when we broke them without a second thought. If I was you I would keep it and give it a go but You must do what you feel is right for you, regards Karl.
I kind of agreed Rocky. I am in two minds about it now. The original plan was to by a Wedge where the body and/or the interior were trashed as I wouldn't be using those bits and it should be cheaper. I ended up buying a better car than I intended.
The current plan (as of 6am when I woke up) is to run it as it is until Jan/Feb next year and then make a decision. I might then strip it for the Sammio build, sell it complete and buy a tattier example or keep it.
I guess a lot depends on the prices and availability of other cars early next year and the number of possible buyers for what I have.
I remember reading in a car mag about the prices for ex-race cars in the past where they were basically just scrap value and now they are worth ££££. I doubt TVRs will rise that quickly in the next couple of years but they will only go up.
I suppose I could always keep the bodyshell mounted on the living room wall as art and then reinstate it if the value rises enough...

Or turn it into a bath tub..Very retro..Plus it would probably sell for a lot more money..And if the punters want it too cheap you can always say "Your having a bubble"..
