PH Carpool: Subaru Impreza RB320

Love is ... a shared passion for Subarus and another timely opportunity to salute Richard Burns

Name:
Brad and Carole Marz
Car:
Subaru Impreza RB320
Owned since:
Only three weeks!
Previously owned:
Subaru WRX estate with PPP

Three weeks into ownership and it's love
Three weeks into ownership and it's love
Why we bought it:
Carole: "We had always said we would have another Subaru and I often joked that Brad didn't need to ask me about buying one, he could just come home with it. So when this one came up it was a done deal!"
Brad: "It was my dream Subaru and was an easy decision to make once I'd taken it for a test drive."

What we wish we'd known:
Brad: "I knew I wanted this particular car since they were launched. Being patient and keeping an eye on the internet, regularly searching without limiting myself to an area close to home certainly paid off when I found this one in mint condition with only 5000 miles on the clock."

Grin explained by wife encouraging purchase!

Things we love:
Carole: "It is an amazing car to drive, it instantly responds to anything you ask it to do, giving you limitless confidence. The acceleration and speed are incredible. We smile from ear to ear every time we drive it."

Things we hate:
Brad: "The fuel consumption!"

Costs:
Brad: "There is no doubt that they are expensive to run and service but it's outweighed by the sheer pleasure of owning and driving it."

Where we've been:
Carole: "The first outing will be to the Cross Roads Subaru day at the Ace Cafe on December 10, but many more trips are planned, including the Nurburgring in the not-too-distant future."

Come and admire it at the Ace in a few weeks
Come and admire it at the Ace in a few weeks
What next?
Together: "Keeping it. It's perfect!"

Find it hard to get excited by these, i'm sure they're great to drive but they seem soulless - like a microwave...

Indeed. This story just seems a little light.

"Owned the car for three weeks - its fast - it uses a lot of fuel."

Meh.

Nice but I was hoping for some info on the Prodrive pack from a drivers perspective.

Go easy chaps, they've only just bought it!

Always keen to hear from potential carpoolers so if you've got an interesting car and/or back story drop us a line to carpool@pistonheads.com.

Cheers!

I thought a picture of the owner(s) in a funny hat was a regular feature of these articles now?

I still can't believe PH gave a brand new one of these to a guy who sold it after two weeks because he already had a vrs ........

Agreed. At leats have some stuff about trips, costs (other than petrol) and driving (rather than its fast)... Maybe Carpool should have a rule that ownership should be at least 6 months...

Compared to most run of the mill hot hatches or the usual middle class snooze-fest BMWs, Mercs and Audis, I'd say this has plenty of "soul" for real money.

Always loved these, and with the nod to the great man himself, its definately on my 'one day' list

bit more detail from the guys who own it or anyone else would be grand

Had mine from new and c80K miles. Nice car, but not one that I look back on with particular affection, but there's no doubting its capability (or its profligacy smile )
