Are we all ready for the strikes tomorrow? I’ll be working from home (that PIGS are going bust thread needs updating after all), don’t have kids, don’t sponge benefits and I can’t afford to go on holiday.

I doubt I’ll notice at all, apart from the evening news being full of (different?) well-pensioned moaning morons. I bet most of the 'millions' on strike won't even give us the amusement of picketing so I can laugh at them standing in the rain. How about you?

I've had to take a day off, but will likely spend most of it working at home anyway.

I'll be working as usual, probably having enjoyed a quieter commute.

Let's see if anyone notices it's on.

Perversely should mean good business for us as long as the weather isn't so bad everyone stays in bed.

Hoping for a good day.

Saves a bit of tax as well - can't we make them strike for another week? So long as we all know in advance when it is, I'm sure most of us will work around it.

It's an interesting point, I'd be interested to see how much the day saves vs. what the unions think it'll cost.

Why take a day off and work? Surely if you're working be it from home or wherever you are working so why waste your holidays?

Is anybody expecting/are there any planned marches/protests (in the City specifically?)

Nobody at work actually knows what to expect tomorrow. Luckily I can walk into the office, so don't think it will have much impact on me.

Just hoping they don't turn the place into a police state ala the last student march.

I wont notice tbh, private sector worker and its my day off anyway, we would have missed either the garden waste or glass bin been collected if it was a few weeks ago.

No doubt my facebook will be full of either people moaning or saying well done.

My 3 year old won't be at nursery so I guess that'll be a few quid saved. Looking forward to a quiet commute, then hurling abuse from our office window at any passing communist marches. biggrin

A quick Google reveals that they've organised rallies all over the place - see here.

As usual, I expect they'll smash things up then blame it on mysterious 'militants' who we never otherwise hear from.

Public sector worker, not striking. Taken quite a bit of flak from colleagues but it doesn't bother me one bit, I voted against the strike and would consider myself hypocritical if I did. I probably shouldn't be in the union tbf.

I've come across a lot of people who can't think for themselves this week unfortunately, "My dad always went on strike so I have to" etc.

So - is general consensus that commutes will be quieter? Will roads generally be lighter traffic?

The commute should definitley be quieter in the morning.

I work in the public sector and quite a few people have taken annual leave tomorrow - prsumably because they want to strike but don't actually want to strike because they think it would look bad to the management etc - so there will possibly be even more people off work tomorrow than the ones just tsriking and those staying at home parents.

There will be quite a few rallies. My employer has multipel offices but the rallies will be happening in town centres not outside offices.

Im properly the only one who has to go back to work tommorrow because of the strikes reallt annoyinng me.

BTW im in colege this week one of the blocks for my aprrentership so as the college is shut ive got to go back to work for 1 day. Almost every lecturer from the motor vehicle department will be doing something else bar striking and that includes my mother who works in the public sector who voted against it is going down cardiff shopping.

I live in the countryside where we have no public services, so I doubt we'll notice the difference. Even the village schools are staying open, whilst everyone curses the townies and their lacksadaisical attitude to hard work.
