your video card needs to have the yellow video input, to get sound you need the red and white to phono jack convertion cable, if you feed the composite output from your video (if you don't have composite, you can get scart plugs with composite output (make sure its output not input))

Then you'll need appropriate sampling software. and lots of memory!

If you want decent results without a load of messong about then I'd say get pinnacle studio

www.pinnaclesys.com/ProductPage_n.asp?Product_ID=1501&Langue_ID=2

Not very expensive and very easy to use.

Corin,

Did you use a miniDV camcorder to get the footage?

If so, then (Providing your camcorder has a 1394 out - which most do) you can transfer the film digitally (via Firewire/IEEE1394) and get minimal quality loss, and not have to purchase/beg/borrow/steal a video capture card.

Yep. that sounds like miniDV.

If you are using Windows XP, then try using the software that you already have installed (Windows Movie Maker"

What model number is your camcorder, and I'll find out if it has the necessary connection port (DV-out)
