Another What car thread but for my sister. Mazda 2?

My sister is looking for a new car. Her car is starting to get unreliable had to pay out 105 quid for a pas steering switch that blew itself apart and other bits and peices car is a proton savy.
List of reguirments.
Budget 5-6k
Reliable
Petrol under 1.6
56 or newer
Not bothered on 3 or 5 doors.
40+ mpg
She likes the new mazda 2 a girl that works with her just got one and she likes it. What are they like to live with and any reliablity issues.
Im a mechanic so know whats good and whats not. But ive never worked on a mazda 2 in work haven't really worked on many mazda and heard they are very reliable.
There is a mazda 2 58 not to far from me at £5250 before i go to see it any other cars out there that meets the requirments.
Please no french cars.

Nothing wrong with Mazda2... Cracking little car.
Early ones had a knock from the rear shocks, but most have had modified ones fitted, and very early cars had problems with water getting into the rear wheel bearings, again most have had a modification to prevent it
Other than that, the only thing worth checking is an excessively soft brake pedal - not common, but can occur on some cars
Otherwise, brilliant little things, light, nippy, pretty economical, and bullet proof engines
