With all the focus on Toyota and Subaru bringing out affordable rear drive coupes isn't it about time that Hyundai brought this to our shores? We need more cheap rear drive coupes, the Veloster is all well and good as a compact coupe/hot hatch but it is lacking in performance a bit.

Any one know of any other performance bargins that we dont get over here?

Engine and transmission:

The Genesis Coupe is available with two engines. The standard engine is a 2.0L Theta turbocharged 4-cylinder producing 210 hp (157 kW; 213 PS) and 223 ft·lbf (302 N·m) torque,[7] with an optional 3.8L Lambda V6 engine producing 306 hp (228 kW; 310 PS) and 266 ft·lbf (361 N·m) torque.[7]

The 4-cylinder turbocharged engine shares many components with the Mitsubishi Evo X. Both engines are the result of the Global Engine Manufacturing Alliance, a joint venture among Hyundai, Mitsubishi, and Chrysler, with Hyundai’s engine using a different computer, from Siemens.[8] Interesting features of the engine include oil injectors under the pistons to keep them cooler. The turbo is estimated to push around 7PSI[9]

A 6-speed manual transmission is standard equipment, with an optional 5- or ZF 6-speed automatic (depending on engine choice).

Performance:

3.8 V6
306 hp (228 kW) (regular)

266 lb·ft (361 N·m) @ 4,700 rpm (regular and premium fuel)

2.0T

217 lb·ft (294 N·m) @ 2,000 rpm (regular and premium fuel)

Braking: 70mph to stop in 160' [16]

At 24k entry price for the 3.8 V6 why has this never seen UK shores?

It's gopping and it would raise Hyundai's average CO2 levels which given likely sales for a non-prestige "failing to keep up with the neighbours" car would be a bit pointless.

Even Genesis simply raises connitations of Phil Collins....

Oh I like it.
Imagine if it had a different badge on the front, maybe a Nissan.

Yes but it was fairly cheap. I get the idea this is more upmarket and don't foregt the CO2 issue wasn't really an issue before they banded it into daylight robbery.

I saw someone driving one of these sideways down one of the roads downtown, utterly crazy but the car looked and sounded awesome.

Saw a couple of these last time I was in the states. The rear window line clooks even worse in the metal yuck
