Hi folks,

Need to buy some decent quality hex (6 sided not 12!) sockets, 1/2 in drive. Finding it very difficult to find anything other than the standard 12 sided ones.

Anybody know where I could get a rail from about 10mm up to 18-20mm?

Why not buy impact sockets? They are often 6 sided.

like these? http://www.lasertools.co.uk/tools.aspx?cat=172

Only issue is I don't think Laser sell direct to public. You may be able to contact them to find a local stockist depending where you are. If you're local though they are having a tool sale on Dec 10th where you might be able to pick some up.

Blimey, thanks guys! Checked out Halfords Pro & Machine Mart and couldn't sift through all the crap.

Already have some impact sockets in the usual (wheel nut) sizes.

I have the SCrewfix set which is the same as MachineMart/Clarkes etc. It is about 37 sockets, 1/2" & 3/8" & mine get used a lot, abused & have never failed.

Halfords professional rail will probably be 3/8 but you'll be able to buy individually

Machine mart is worth a look, I regularly use their Clarke pro tools with no complaints

I'd rather 1/2in so I can use them with my torque wrench, and I already have upto 10mm in 1/4in.

I was after exactly the same thing, halfords pro 1/2" drive only come in 12pt so they were no good, as suggested above the draper expert sockets are available in flank drive 6ptonly and are of reasonable quality. I Settled on a 10-30mm set from ebay made by a manufacturer called Smoos, they were about 35quid and have a better finish than the draper ones imo.
