Hey Guys,

There is a track day at donington this saturday, who's going and are there any seasoned drivers that wouldn't mind a few laps with me, it's potentially my first track event.. so would be good to be shown round by someone more experienced.

Thanks in advance

Neil

Feel free to come and find me/jump in for a few laps

Hi Neil,

I've done a few days with Apex this year, they include 20 mins instruction free.

I'd give Mike, the organiser, a call to book and mention that you'd like an earlyish slot with the instructor, it'll help give you the right lines at a steady speed, then you can build it up a bit over the day.

Have fun, and don't worry too much about it. Look at it as a chance to drive your favourite road in a safe environment with no speed limits! biggrin

And of course, don't try to do too much too soon. Give yourself long breaks etc.

Enjoy it!

Hi Paul,

That would be great, I've actually been looking at an MX5 for a bit of a winter project. MK1 or 2.

Any laps or even if you jump in mine for a few would be great.

Hopefully if I make it I will come find you.

Thanks

Neil

Hi Dimski,

Yeah I messaged Mike, to see what the crack is and it sounds like a good day.

I just need to get the car on a track before the end of the year, as that was always the plan for the car... so would be nice to actually do it.

Although I'm keeping my eye on the weather, as would prefer my first track outing to be in the dry.

Thanks

Neil

Donno is FANTASTIC! I might be bias because its my local track but I never get bored with it, have to love being flat out through the craner curves and flinging it into the old hairpin, it has such a wide exit you can go through alot faster than you think and carry the speed up the hill.

If I'm not too dead from seeing Kasabian the night before I might pop along with me camera (nothing amazing though). what car you in?

I've always wanted to drive donington, 1 because it's my local and 2 ever since I used to play TOCA touring cars.

If I make it on saturday then I will be in my R33 Skyline.

Hi Neil,

We are there giving some of our crew a day out as a thank you for their help this year - I will be giving them some instruction first thing in the morning but will be happy to sit alongside you in the afternoon if you like. Give me a shout - will be with the Black MacG Racing Westfield Aerorace.

OK, so looks like I won't be at donington tomorrow, which obviously I am a bit gutted about.. but in the new year I'm sure there will be plenty of chances to make it.

Thanks to every one for their kind offers, maybe I will see you all there at a later date.

Have fun and stay safe.

Regards,

Neil

you didn't miss anything
oil dropped on circuit at beginning of day so over an hour to clean it
followed by numerous red flags in spite of requests from organisers/officials to be careful....
would not have been an introduction to the normal trackday experience

Was a bit disappointing to be honest.
we had a lot of red flags. Unfortunate about the oil spill on track. This I think made it even more slippery and people trying to make up for lost track time. Donington were fantastic and reduced the lunch break to 30 minutes to try to give drivers additional tracktime.

Un-representative of our normal days. Good mix of cars, but also mix of drivers ability and mirror usage.
