I'm a big fan of a nice engine / exhaust sound.

I don't mean a 1 litre with a drainpipe on it, I mean a proper engine, making a proper noise.

What do PH think is the best noise you can get for the smallest outlay?

I only ask because I've just had the recent delight of hearing a Ragazzon exhaust on a GTV V6. Truly one of the greatest noises I've heard, and on something that in total cost well under £4,000.

Pretty much any V8s without a flat-plane crank sound good, so anything with a Rover V8, or an American V8 sound good.

Given you can pick these up for well under a grand, I think they don't sound too shabby.

For cheap tunes you probably couldn't go far wrong (metaphorically speaking...) with a 5-cylinder Fiat and fruity exhaust.

£850 gets you into a Bravo HGT, which IMHO can sound pretty good.

Rover V8 or TVR AJP8 with straight-through pipes are awesome. I do love the sound of the LeMans Corvettes best though!

I had a new fuel pump fitted to my little Quantum this morning. It started its life as an 86 Mk2 XR2, went through a couple of engines and is now running a Fiesta RS Turbo engine, which has just been rebuilt with a new turbo

I've just driven it back from the garage, and now it has a decent fuel system in place I can actually use the boost.

Here's the sound (this isn't me) I like, it's how they came standard

Surely something like a cheap Subaru has to be mentioned. Incredible noise!

And I've always loved the MR2 sound, which can be had fairly cheaply these days. It's very enjoyable from the cabin too, as it makes a great noise right behind your head. Comedy exhaust here:

If its induction noise you like just search for either Mercedes Benz 2.3-16 or e30 m3 on YouTube.
"sound of the dtm" is an induction lovers paradise

At the moment the resin needs to set for the bumper lips, so won't be driving it until the weekend. Then once it's warmed up, there will be a lot of video.

Tried to video it when we got it back from the garage, only little blips up to ~3k, and it's too much for the camera, so will have to try it from further away.

Planning a trip to a tunnel as soon as possible, need to arrange a quick & quiet camera car to follow, I'll be in the Monaro with Wortec, she'll be in her GTV, should be an amazing noise! yikesevil
