Can anyone suggest a decent company to offer insurance on a Pony, I have found a couple of comparison sites but if anyone can point me in the right direction it would be great.

I used NFU Mutual for my horse, reasonable price and never had a problem claiming on the insurance when needed. http://www.nfumutual.co.uk/insurance/equine-insura...

Thanks for that, sadly the pony we were looking to buy has been sold.

If only buying a Pony was as easy as buy a car wink

When you do find one, under no circumstances go with E&L. The likelihood of them ever paying out in the event of a claim is extremely slim. There are plenty of options - just buy a copy of one of the monthly mags and you should find them all advertising.

There are plenty of insurers specialising in American import vehicles.

Petplan Equine currently insure the other half's cob.

Also KBIS, SEIB, Shearwater and Carriage House are worth considering.

I expect you could get a classic policy for it.

Indeed - they failed to cough when OH's tack got knobbled - however, if OH had actually read the policy that stated you had to state if on a yard with 5 or more horses I believe......

E&L paid up for my horse - with x-rays, nerve blocking and an MRI scan - scarily expensive....however now she's on a 'mature' policy, is only covered for 'visible accidental external injury' and are not so considerate....
Do read the small print - some insurers don't class horses as mature until they're 20+, E&L start at 15, and yes, tack is notoriously not covered in a normal yard situation

My tack, rugs, pretty much everything was stolen when my horse was in a large livery yard, although every 2 stables had their own tack room (the thieves broke into every single tack room on the yard). NFU paid up with no arguments, I wrote a list of everything that had been stolen, with rough costs (I didn't have any receipts for most of the stuff) and they paid for everything.

Also when I had to claim for a leg injury, they also paid up with no arguments, and my horse was on a veterans policy at the time.

This. 110% this. E&L are robbing bds.

Pet Plan are good.
