audi a4 2005 using very much motor oil??

hi,
my friend has a 2006 audi a4 2.0tdi (produced in 2005). he has asked me to try and help him find out the reason why his car is using so much motor oil.

The car uses 0.5L per 3000km (roughly)

does anybody know if this is normal for this car??

I vaguely recall reading something about Audi TDis having a thirst for oil, but .5l in 3000km isn't anything to worry about.
