No one wants to insure me.......
Discussion
I'm beginning to worry now, long story short I've had 2 claims recently. One where a woman reversed into my parked car, and most recently when my car had some form of paint stripper poured over it.

My renewal is 4 and a half thousand, I've used the online comparison sites and cheapest was 6 grand with 3 grand excess so obviously they don't want to insure me.
I need a car, but these quotes are worrying me.
What really makes me feel sick is that neither claim was my fault yet I'm being punished, yes I know technically they are fault claims when an insurer can't claim from someone else, but from my point of view I've done nothing, had my car reversed into and then vandalised and am now paying the price.
Has anyone been in my situation? Any insurance companies that might help?
I'm really stressed now as I can't afford insurance that high, I've lost my no claims, my car has been declared a total loss, all this before christmas.
Before anyone says it, yes I know in the grand scheme of things "It could be worse" "Others have more important things to worry about" but it doesn't take away from the fact I'm a victim to the claims, and the insurers give me a kick while I'm down.

Admiral would quote similar to elephant I assume? If so they won't even quote for me.
I haven't thought about classic car insurance as I'm getting quotes on a micra and a smart car (haven't bought yet) but I need an a to b car and the quotes are still high.
Doubt I can get a micra or smart car on a classic car policy, and I do quite a few miles per year.

So you happened to be filming out of your window when a woman backs into your car, but didn't get her details? Something doesn't quite add up.
No that footage was filmed from my phone on cctv played on a computer at the hotel I was staying at. (i.e I filmed a computer screen)If I saw someone about to hit my car from my window, I would have probably jumped out the window to stop them not casually film it.
Can we please not turn this thread into something else, I just want ideas about possible insurers, and people in similar situations.

I was quoted £1200 recently from Footman James for un unlimited mileage classic policy on a Mini Mayfair. This was for an 18 year old, 1 year (named) no claims bonus, car on driveway, no security etc... Pretty good.
As I see it I think you either shop around for a classic car/policy or go for a kit car. The policy for the latter seem to be v low from what I've heard from other PH'ers, especially on these type of cars: http://pistonheads.co.uk/sales/3395429.htm
Hope this helps, I saw the pictures of what happened to the MX5 and it was disgraceful

I pay 4.5k TPFT with an £800 excess (although I was sold excess protection insurance so I only pay £25), group 17 car (oops...), 21, open claim from 2009 (guy hit me at a crossroad), f rated post code.
Not a pretty situation to be in I can assure you, but same as you, I needed a motor for work and so I could help out the family. I'm insured with Broker King, and my policy documents resemble a photocopy of a photocopy of a fake.
They get you on a barrel and no amount of begging seems to help, my suggestion, try the smaller brokers, specialists, classic insurers, even some agricultural insurers! Eventually you'll get somewhere.

Ah broker king, they were the cheapest on confused.com but the excess was 3k.Not a pretty situation to be in I can assure you, but same as you, I needed a motor for work and so I could help out the family. Even if I could afford the insurance I'd never pay that much on a low powered car.
What I don't get is I'm much older than you, and the cars are very low insurance groups, but obviously I have more claims than you do and they are only months apart.

It seemed like your car was singled out for the paint stripper attack.
So, to be fair, why would any insurance company want to take on the risk that that may well happen again?
Perhaps the best thing to do is get a job with a company car, or even van.
I can understand the logic behind it, but that doesn't take away from the fact that I am gutted, not only do I lose my car but then the incident has pretty much taken me off the road. So, to be fair, why would any insurance company want to take on the risk that that may well happen again?

Its time to buy a little fiesta mate!!!!!
I've experimented online with a variety of cars, the car hasn't made much difference in all honesty.Have you tried Tesco, I just renewed mine and they were the cheapest.
On a similar not I recently had my front bumper damaged. I managed to clip it back into place and now I just need to get some new scew's to secure it properly. It still has a small crack under the lower grill though but it's not too bad as it lines up when the bumper is fitted properly again.
Out of curiousity I got a quote if I did claim for it and it doubled to over £2,000.
I can get a new bumper fully sprayed for around £500 so it's f
king con in my opnion that the insurance company would want an extra £1,000 and that's just for the first year.
It might be s
t but have you tried getting a quote for a 1.0 Yaris or something. You might need something like that for a few years just to build your no claims up again.

Sweet jesus, you must really love that car...
Seemed like a good idea... until you consider the cost of spares... fuel...time spent not being let out at junctions.
