Hi
Some git smashed my back window to steal my belongings and in doing so, killed the roller mechanism on the aforementioned retractable luggage cover in the boot. Does anyone know where I can source one from? I should think that Jaguar will charge a kings ransom and I'm weighing up the insurance excess of £175 Vs the cost of replacing the cover (either second hand or new).
Many thanks
Andy

Try some Jaguar breakers

Don't forget claiming on the insurance, not only it's the £175 but a black mark against you and an uplift of basic premium and loss of discount over a 2-3 year period

Just claim for the broken window

thank you. I parked under a CCTV at my gym (Nuffield at Stoke Poges) and thought it would be safe, but the image on camera is rubbish and didn't deter the scumbag who nicked about a grand worth of coat / pen and ipod from the boot.

Moral of story- transfer things into boot when you set out on your journey, not at the destination.

About two years ago another Scum (or maybe the same one) smashed the drivers window to nick the SatNav

About the only time I've left it in the car at home, got home late so just left it there

The bit that got me though was, the car was unlocked so they could have just opened the door,
OK I lost a satnav but all the bother of clearing the glass and getting another fitted

Bought a new rear cover form someone on the jagforum but for the 2nd time in a fortnight, some sh!te has smashed my rear window, this time in the car park of my local. I can't see me owning this car for long, it seems to attract scum.
Very depressed.

Presumably they think 'Ooh look, luggage cover, must be something valuable underneath'.

That would be the same for any estate with a luggage cover.

In a similar vein, in the days when BMW badges were worn on a chain by the riff-raff, I got fed up with repalcing them and break-ins for the stereo, so bought an Accord. Came out of a restaurant to find four cars around mine with smashed windows and no stereo but mine unscathed. Kept the car for years because no one touched it.
