Video: Subaru BRZ gets all slidey

Now the new Scooby coupe begins to make a bit of sense...

Motor show glare and over-produced press shots are never going to do a car any favours; it's often only when you see it on the move (and drive it) that a car begins to make sense.

Subaru probably fervently hopes this to be true - especially since its new BRZ coupe has thus far received a pretty lukewarm reception.

But performance Subarus have rarely been about good looks - what matters is how they drive. We can't draw any conclusions on that front yet, of course, but this new video, released by Subaru does promise a fair bit of driving fun.

Especially with the graceful slow-mo four-wheel drifting. Lovely.

The Peugeot-alike front grille doesn't look so nasty on the video...

I like!

But why is his internal temperature set to 1.0degree? Bit chilly.

Nice... but looks very like an MX5/RX7/S2000 from the front and a 350Z from the side.

So just another Jap sports car for me I'm afraid. It's been done.

Its not meant to prove anything. It's a moving brochure. It's meant to make you think 'Oooooo nice, I'd like one of those.' It does a pretty good job IMO.

Looks like a decent car (both).

But this is seriously overkill Pistonheads.....how many features this week, these cars are not that significant!

Yep, their first RWD sports car.

So yeah, pretty significant overall for both Toyota and Subaru.

28K for a car which is mediocre even in performance isn't what I'd call affordable.

Where have Toyota or Subaru said this is £28k?

one lazy journo says it costs £28k and all of a sudden thats gospel.
- despite info from Toyota stating it will not be 28k everyone that doesnt want it (/cant afford it) bashes the f*k out of it in every damn post for its price that isnt confirmed/true.

Please, can someone post an official link that says its going to be 28k ?...

It's all made up stuff, mate. Does my head in already. Toyota said on their FB page that they aim for 25k which I think is pretty reasonable for the car. Remember that due to the Yen we don't get cheap Japanese (low volume!) cars any longer. Subaru had to add 3k to the WRX not so long ago.
