Well, as they are hiring her as a test driver, I guess it's low risk.
Even if it just shows that women can break into top flight - she might not be the one - but will encourage other teams to take a chance?
Given the physicality of the sport, I guess one question has been raised before of the ability to get to the right fitness level without the experience and testing time.
What's the lowest stress track to compete in? Monza? (due to time on throttle/ number of bends?)

"What PR value can Renault derive from running a female driver on Friday sessions, balancing increased coverage and PR with the value of an experienced F1 driver running the car on Fridays"

Putting aside the fact that her record isn't exactly setting the world alight do Renault actually need any more drivers? Most of the stories in the F1 news lately have been about how they have a plethora of options available, surely one of the people vying for the second seat must be willing to take a Third Driver role should they not get the big job?

Frankly the thing that annoys me most about it is that putting her in an FP1 session or similar is just going to further set back female racers prospects. When there is a promising, capable female driver I hope they get a chance....
